FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
July 29, 2025
Calgary, AB – The Canadian Guidance Association (CGA) is honoured to announce that it has been selected as one of the recipients of a $10,000 grant from Makadiff Sports, in support of its upcoming Multicultural Power Her Play initiative.
This grassroots community project, as outlined in our proposal, is designed to empower girls, young women, and vulnerable youth from diverse cultural backgrounds. The initiative welcomes participants from all backgrounds and communities from diverse cultural backgrounds across Alberta, and aims to foster inclusive sports and leadership opportunities.
Launching in various quadrants of Calgary, this program marks the first step toward building a more inclusive and empowering environment for women, girls, and youth through sport, mentorship, and community engagement. It will create safe, supportive spaces where participants can build confidence, life skills, and a strong sense of belonging.
The Multicultural Power Her Play initiative reflects CGA’s ongoing commitment to nurturing leadership, advancing equity, and strengthening community connections through culturally responsive and accessible programming. In future phases, CGA hopes to expand this initiative to surrounding cities such as Airdrie, Chestermere, and Edmonton, depending on available resources and support.
The Canadian Guidance Association extends its sincere appreciation to Makadiff Sports for making this important initiative possible and for their belief in the power of inclusive sport.
